support, and external data transfers, while also handling and interpreting very high volumes of hourly and subhourly data. This dual requirement
of high speed response while managing a deluge of data presents a fundamental challenge to the designers of support software for deregulated energy markets.
ESM meets the challenge with a unique, super-high performance architecture. ESM is designed in a client server configuration that utilizes ESC’s Time-Related
Modeling System (TRMTM) database management system and application development language running on IBM’s robust, scaleable System 390® servers. This server
hardware/software combination provides unmatched speed, reliability, efficiency, security, flexibility, and scaleability to give ESP’s a real and durable
competitive edge.
The ESM server database engine is optimized to handle high resolution time-related data. The database supports thirteen data frequencies, from one minute to
annual increments and automatically handles aggregation from higher to lower frequencies. The database engine also manages textual information (including
contracts), algebraic equations, models, and reports, and serves as the data archive for all ESP operations and financial information.
ESM has full functionality to perform all front, middle, and back office software tasks associated with providing retail energy services.
ESM installations are uniquely tailored to the organizational structure of each client and to the preferences of each ESM user. System implementation includes
the incorporation of each client’s specific work flow, authorization and access rules, and each end user’s preferred browser dialogue screens. Tailored
installation can be completed in six to nine weeks.
